The searches that land on this page name more than one "Freedom": Yelp and BBB ratings for "Freedom Life", over-the-counter allowances and transport under a "Freedom Health" plan, a policy called Care Freedom, a Johannesburg name, German-language questions about people's experiences. This site covers one Freedom only: Freedom Health Insurance, the UK private medical insurer whose Freedom Elite policyholder's guide is quoted below. If that is the firm you are weighing, the decision is whether its cover, built the way you would build it, is worth its price beside another insurer's, and a broker can put both figures in front of you. Fill in the form here and that question goes, free of charge, to an FCA-authorised broker. If you came for a different Freedom, the first section should save you time.
Which Freedom the search points to
The middle column reads only the words of each search; it says nothing about who is behind a name, what they sell or whether they are sound.
| What the search contains | What the words suggest | Covered here? |
|---|---|---|
| "UK", "Elite", "GP", "Companies House", "Trustpilot" | The UK insurer, Freedom Health Insurance | Yes, from its own policy guide |
| "Freedom Life" with Yelp, BBB, "Consumer Reports" or "ACA compliant" | An American search: the Affordable Care Act is US law and the Better Business Bureau a North American body | No |
| "Freedom Health" with OTC, transportation, mail-order pharmacy, timely filing, "Freedom Blue" | Also American: allowances for over-the-counter items, transport, mail-order pharmacy and timely filing are the terms of US health plans, not of UK private medical insurance | No |
| "Care Freedom" with Policy Bazaar, brochure PDF, premium | A policy by that name, not the UK insurer's Elite cover | No |
| "Freedom Health Care" with SA or Johannesburg | Something based in South Africa, outside this page's scope | No |
| "Krankenversicherung", "Erfahrungen" | German speakers asking about health insurance and people's experiences of it; which Freedom they mean, the search does not say | Only if it is the UK insurer |
If your row says no, nothing further down applies to you; the organisation's own site, or the regulator where it operates, is a better start than any page of ours. A UK reader who met the name on a comparison site or a renewal letter is most likely in the first row.
Freedom Health Insurance UK: who is behind the firm
The Freedom Elite Policyholder's Guide to Cover, dated 1 April 2025 (freedomhealthinsurance.co.uk, read 4 September 2026), names its publisher as Freedom Healthnet Limited, which is on the FCA register under number 312282. The questions people search for about the firm go further than that.
- Is it legitimate? We do not certify any firm, and an FCA number is no verdict on service or claims. You can look the number up on the FCA's public register yourself and check that the name and permissions match your paperwork.
- Who owns it, and who underwrites the cover? Some UK health policies are sold under one name and carried by a separate insurer, so look for the underwriter's name in your policy documents; who stands behind a Freedom quote is something the broker calling back from the form can tell you, free.
- Companies House, revenue, the group it belongs to. Companies House publishes filings for UK limited companies, and anyone can search it for Freedom Healthnet Limited free of charge. The filings there are the place to check figures such as turnover and the group structure.
- Phone number, email, opening hours, member services. We do not reproduce contact details, because they change and an out-of-date number sends you to the wrong place. Your certificate and the insurer's own website carry the current ones.
If a review score is what you came for, the Freedom Health Insurance: reviews page explains why we publish none, and private health insurance reviews: how to read them covers what any rating can and cannot tell you.
Freedom health cover: what the Elite guide says, search by search
Freedom Elite is the policy this section draws on. People also search for Freedom "silver" and "gold" cover; metal tiers are the language of American marketplace plans, so ask whether a UK policy by either name exists before relying on one. What follows is Elite only, each point with its page in the guide.
| If you searched for | What the Elite guide says |
|---|---|
| Vision, eye doctors, GP, mental health | Optical fees, private GP fees and mental health care are named among Elite's optional additional benefits, along with out-patient treatment, alternative therapies and dental. You hold one only if your certificate shows it (page 10). |
| Dental | One clause pays for "the oral procedures listed under benefit 7.1.5 (Dental surgery carried out by an oral specialist)" (page 24). The procedures themselves are listed under benefit 7.1.5 in the full guide. |
| Eligibility, family cover | Children can be covered "up to the end of the period of insurance during which they reach 25 years of age" (page 42). |
| Earlier health problems | A medical condition in the five years before the policy began, or one related to it, is not covered unless Freedom has agreed to cover it (page 8). |
| Long-term conditions | Excluded: "long-term management or maintenance of incurable, prolonged or lifelong conditions" (page 8). |
| Gym membership, transport, over-the-counter items | Whether Elite pays towards any of these depends on the policy. Transport and over-the-counter items are among the words that mark a search as American in the first table. |
Anything not in the table, gym membership included, turns on the full policy wording and the options on your certificate. The reviews page takes each clause in turn and links to the pages that quote it in full. The first row is where two Elite policies can differ most, since each of those benefits is bought separately. To see out-patient or mental health cover priced on several insurers' policies built the same way, the form on this page brings a broker who will set those options out side by side and answer what the table leaves open.
How much is Freedom health insurance, and how to get a quote
A Freedom premium is built on your age, where you live, your medical history and the options you choose, so no single figure would be honest. What can be said is how the usual settings tend to move a premium with any UK insurer: a higher excess usually brings it down, a narrower out-patient benefit generally does too, and adding options such as mental health or dental tends to push it up. By how much, only a quote built on your own details will show.
You can go to Freedom directly, or ask a broker, who can put one specification to a number of insurers at once. Not every broker deals with every insurer, so if Freedom is the name you want in the comparison, say so at the start and ask whether it can be quoted. How to get a private health insurance quote walks through what you will be asked either way, and what a health insurance broker is and does covers how that route works.
Deciding whether Freedom is the one
No answer suits everyone, but order matters, because each step can rule Freedom in or out before the next one costs you time. Each comes with the question to put to Freedom or to a broker.
- Be sure it is the UK insurer. Check that the documents name Freedom Healthnet Limited and that the FCA register agrees. Ask who underwrites the cover.
- Decide which optional benefits you need. On Elite, out-patient, mental health, optical, GP and dental are bought as additions. Ask which the price includes and whether each will show on the certificate.
- Set your medical history against the five-year look-back. Ask whether anything from that window would be treated as related to a condition you might claim for.
- Compare like with like. A quote means little beside another built on a different excess, hospital access or set of options. Ask which guide governs the quote, since the one quoted here dates from April 2025.
Searches about the various Freedoms, answered
Is Freedom Life health insurance legit, and is it ACA compliant?
Both questions are American in their terms: the Affordable Care Act is US law, and the searches that pair Freedom Life with Yelp, the BBB and Consumer Reports are asking about a US product. This page does not cover that firm, and it pronounces on no company's legitimacy, at home or abroad. The regulator in the country concerned is the place to ask.
What doctors take Freedom health insurance?
Phrases like "in-network providers", "find a provider" and "does Quest take" are the vocabulary of American plans. For the UK insurer, which hospitals and specialists you can use depends on the policy you buy, so ask for the hospital list that comes with your quote.
What is Freedom's timely filing limit?
A timely filing limit is, as we understand it, an American billing deadline for getting a claim to a health plan, so the words point away from the UK insurer. How and when a claim to the UK insurer must be made is a matter for its policy terms; a planned page, Freedom Health Insurance: making a claim, is where that subject belongs.
Is Freedom linked to AXA, Aviva or Vitality?
People seem to search them together while comparing UK insurers, and each has a page here: AXA Health: reviews and reputation, Aviva health insurance: reviews and reputation and Vitality health insurance: reviews and reputation.
Does Freedom do international health insurance?
The Elite guide describes UK private medical insurance, and cover for people living abroad rests on a different footing. Whether Freedom sells anything for expats is worth raising with the broker who rings back after you use the form, at no charge; the best international health insurance: how to choose explains how.
What is Freedom Health Care?
The searches put the name beside Johannesburg and beside home care; none reads as a search for the UK insurer. In the UK, the insurer is Freedom Health Insurance, and its policy wording is what this page draws on.
If the first row of the table was yours, the useful next step is a quote built on the cover you settled on above. What you write in the form on this page lands with the broker we work with, who can price Freedom Elite against other insurers' policies if Freedom deals through them, and tell you what each one would and would not cover for you.
